Notes on server logs, feeds, tables, e-mail subscription, and contact.

Amrum Software is a project and collective name for the software offerings of Jost Jahn.
2. Hosting and server log files
When this website is accessed, the web server processes technically necessary connection data. This may include IP address, date and time of access, requested file, amount of data transferred, referrer, browser type, browser version, and operating system.
- Purpose: providing the website, technical security, troubleshooting, and abuse detection.
- Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in secure and reliable website operation.
- Recipients: the hosting provider used, typically STRATO or a comparable web host.
- Retention: according to the hosting provider's settings and rules; where possible with shortened or anonymized IP addresses.
3. Feeds and tables
The published RSS/XML and JSON feeds and the tables contain object designations, magnitudes, observations, orbital elements, and derived working values from publicly available astronomical sources, especially the Minor Planet Center and local Find_Orb processing.
These astronomical data are not personal data of visitors to this website. Accessing feed and table files creates the same technical access data as a normal page request.
4. E-mail subscription and unsubscription
An e-mail subscription is created only when a registration mail is sent to the listed address. Stored data include the e-mail address, subscription status, time of the latest change, and, only for e-mail subscriptions, the requested station code and personal limiting magnitude. If omitted, station 500 and 20.0 mag are used.
Optional horizon profiles may reveal local obstructions or equipment settings. The profile is part of the recipient record; stored fields are the filename, detected format, SHA-256 checksums, and azimuth/altitude points normalized to north = 0° and east = 90°. Attachments are checked locally and used only for the requested visibility filtering.
A valid attachment activates or replaces the profile automatically. Horizon profile: none in a new registration mail removes it. Files that are not permitted or cannot be identified unambiguously as passive text profiles are not used and never overwrite an existing working profile.
- Purpose: delivery and filtering of MPC NEO Alert mails.
- Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in the requested notification; where the mailing is explicitly requested, additionally consent through the registration mail.
- Recipients: technically involved mail servers and mail providers.
- Retention: subscription data while the subscription exists and afterwards as required to document unsubscription and avoid accidental future delivery; optional horizon data only while needed for personal filtering.
Unsubscription is possible at any time by sending an unsubscribe mail from the receiving address. Unsubscribe requests are not confirmed automatically.
5. Contact and error reports
If you contact us by e-mail or report an error, the information you provide is processed to handle the request. This may include name, e-mail address, message content, time of request, and technical attachments.
Error reports, screenshots, or log excerpts may contain personal or device-related data if you include them yourself. Please check such attachments before sending them.
- Purpose: handling the request, troubleshooting, and improving the service.
- Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; for pre-contractual or contractual requests additionally Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
- Retention: as long as required for processing, follow-up questions, and documentation.
6. No analytics, advertising, or tracking services
This website uses no advertising networks, no profiling, no embedded tracking services, and no social media plugins. No analytics cookies are set.
7. Legal bases and legitimate interests
Technical access data are processed to provide this website securely. Contact, error report, and subscription data are processed to answer your request, analyze errors, and deliver requested notifications. Where no more specific legal basis applies, processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
8. Data subject rights
Subject to the GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to certain processing. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
