The application stores settings, observations, calculation results, data checksums, map cache and diagnostic logs locally. Installed data reside under %LOCALAPPDATA%/AmrumSoftware/OrbitWorkbench. Logs and reports may include file names, observations and station notes. Report prepares a message to FindOrb@jostjahn.de with your comment, log and screenshot; sending requires your action in your mail program. You can remove local caches and reports when no longer needed; do not remove data required by a running calculation.
Requested downloads contact MPC, JPL and Project Pluto; maps contact OpenStreetMap, PVGIS and CDS/Gaia. These providers receive the network IP and request parameters: object designations for MPC, coordinates/field for maps and sky catalogues. No observation file is uploaded for orbit calculation: the source core runs locally. Provider terms and possible transfers outside the EEA apply.
An optional MPC availability report shares a random common installation ID, product/version, time, latency, HTTP status, byte count, checksum and broad error class, at most once per ten minutes across participating apps. It never sends observations, object names, file paths, account names, email or hardware. The status server uses the public IP to determine provider and a location rounded to about 10 km. Disable Share MPC availability (all apps) in Settings to turn it off for all participating applications.
A daily HTTPS update check sends a product-specific random installation ID with validation components, no hardware-derived identity. It is stored locally and mirrored in your user registry; updates retain it. A 90-day update period starts only after a genuinely newer published version is successfully detected. Network failure alone never starts that period or blocks calculation.
Contact correspondence is used to answer the request; the default retention is 60 days unless the ongoing matter or legal requirements justify longer retention. You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests.
