Warum sucht GitCheck nicht automatisch alle Laufwerke ab?
Die bekannte Repo-Liste wird bewusst gepflegt. Dadurch bleiben Ergebnisse reproduzierbar und es werden keine fremden, alten oder zufällig gefundenen Git-Verzeichnisse in Berichte aufgenommen.
Löscht GitCheck Dateien?
Nein. Das Entfernen eines Eintrags entfernt nur den Eintrag aus der GitCheck-Liste. Eine Optimierung nutzt Git-Funktionen wie git gc, löscht aber nicht den Arbeitsordner.
Warum kann Windows SmartScreen warnen?
Windows kann bei kleinen oder neuen Programmen warnen, besonders wenn kein öffentlich vertrauenswürdiges Code-Signing-Zertifikat verwendet wird. Das ist nicht automatisch ein Fund, sondern eine Vertrauens- und Verbreitungsbewertung.
Gibt es Versionen für Mac, Linux oder Smartphones?
Nein. GitCheck ist derzeit als Windows-Werkzeug gebaut und auf lokale Windows-Installationen ausgelegt.
Wie funktionieren Updates?
GitCheck kann auf eine veröffentlichte Update-Information prüfen und bei einer neueren Version hinweisen. Es installiert nichts automatisch.
Welche Daten verlassen den Rechner?
Die Repo-Liste und die Berichte bleiben lokal. Beim manuellen E-Mail-Kontakt können natürlich die Informationen enthalten sein, die der Absender selbst mitsendet, etwa Screenshots, Pfade oder Fehlertexte.

Why does GitCheck not scan all drives automatically?
The known repository list is maintained deliberately. This keeps results reproducible and avoids adding unrelated, old or accidentally found Git directories to reports.
Does GitCheck delete files?
No. Removing an entry only removes it from the GitCheck list. Optimization uses Git functions such as git gc, but it does not delete the work folder.
Why can Windows SmartScreen show a warning?
Windows can warn for small or new programs, especially when there is no publicly trusted code-signing certificate. This is not automatically a malware finding; it is a trust and reputation assessment.
Are Mac, Linux or smartphone versions planned?
No. GitCheck is currently built as a Windows tool and is designed for local Windows installations.
How do updates work?
GitCheck can check a published update file and notify the user when a newer version exists. It does not install anything automatically.
Which data leaves the computer?
The repository list and reports stay local. When contacting support by email, the message can of course contain whatever the sender includes, such as screenshots, paths or error text.
