Hosting and server logs
STRATO processes technical logs such as IP address, time, requested file, transfer size, referrer, browser, and operating system to provide and secure the service and investigate errors or abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). IP addresses are anonymised under the default configuration, and logs are retained for up to 60 days.
Local state and update checks
URLtoFile permanently mirrors its random UUID4 in a local file and under a non-descriptive registry value in the Windows user profile. If the file is missing or contains another identifier, it is recreated with the same registry UUID4. The small update state also remains local. At most daily, the program requests the version document and sends the UUID as installation_id. It is not derived from hardware, Windows accounts, email, or licence data. A 90-day grace period begins only after a newer release is successfully detected.
Contact and rights
Messages are processed to answer them and normally retained for up to 60 days after completion unless legal obligations apply. No advertising, analytics, tracking, or cookies are used. You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and portability, and may complain to the Schleswig-Holstein data protection authority.
