Hosting, server logs and downloads

The site is hosted by STRATO (strato.de). Requests can generate technical server data: IP address, time, requested file, transferred bytes, referrer, browser and operating system. The purposes are delivery, security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention; legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The configured default is anonymised IP storage for 60 days. Download requests generate the same technical server data.

Local application data

Hardware details, the selected label/data folder, benchmark samples, power readings, reports and tool status remain on the local device. Default folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\AmrumSoftware\LaptopSammlerTest. Reports are not uploaded automatically. You may delete local reports you no longer need. The application keeps its random installation UUID locally and mirrors it per Windows user in the registry.

Version checking

At most once per calendar day the program retrieves version.json over HTTPS and sends a random pseudonymous installation identifier in the installation_id query parameter. It is not derived from hardware, the Windows account or computer name. The transfer is used only for version delivery and product reach statistics. No reports or collected application data are attached. A successfully detected newer release starts a 90-day update deadline; a network failure alone does not start a deadline. Offline mode suppresses new requests while preserving an already known deadline.

Tool installation and external providers

On normal startup, the seven named tools are detected, installed or updated. This contacts Microsoft WinGet/Store and the respective original download providers, including Tailscale, RustDesk/GitHub, TeamViewer, AnyDesk, OpenAI and the provider of Festplattenwarner/MPC Status Network. Requests transmit the technical data needed for the download; accounts and use of those tools are governed by their providers. Some providers operate outside the EU, including in the USA. Check their privacy notices before using their services. No account passwords or remote-access secrets are included by this program.

Cookies and browser preferences

No advertising or analytics service is embedded. The site stores only navigation/language preferences locally in the browser. No tracking cookie is set.

Contact and your rights

Contact details and message contents are used to handle enquiries under Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. The default retention is 60 days after resolution unless legal duties or an ongoing matter require longer retention. You have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. You may complain to the competent supervisory authority in Schleswig-Holstein: ULD.
