Install the setup or copy the EXE into a writable folder. Start on AC power.
Let tool setup finish. Current or newer versions are kept; older ones are updated. Review any open messages.
Select the internal folder where collection data will be stored, not the USB stick holding the program.
Run the short test under comparable conditions. Start your collectors yourself, then observe for at least 30 minutes.
Measure average power over several hours with the display off, without sleep and without battery charging. Use the intended battery configuration.
Enter watts and battery conditions before the report run.
Copy the JSON reports from all laptops into one report folder and select “Berichte vergleichen”. The sortable HTML view includes CSV and JSON downloads.

Storage and limits

Default local data: %LOCALAPPDATA%\AmrumSoftware\LaptopSammlerTest. Reports, tool status and downloaded installers remain local. Downloads and updates can take several minutes. A running ChatGPT/Codex instance is not forcibly closed. Retry after closing it.

Cancel stops further installations after the active installer finishes. Removing this application does not uninstall the independent tools. Battery charge, thermal throttling and background work can affect comparisons. The optional write test is a short measurement, not a disk health test.

Windows 11 compatibility and RAM upgrade limits require model-specific checks. Collector applications can have additional path and free-space requirements; the current AllSky Global collector needs its own adjustments.
