Video Align was developed by Jost Jahn with assistance from OpenAI Codex. The scientific objectives, processing decisions, evaluation of the example results and final release approval remain under human responsibility.

AI assistance was used during software development to help draft, review and test source code and documentation. No AI model is embedded in Video Align, and no AI service receives or processes the user’s videos. Video processing runs locally on the user’s computer.

The application is built with established open-source components, including Python, NumPy, OpenCV, Astropy, FFmpeg and PyInstaller. Their use is acknowledged because these libraries provide essential numerical, astronomical, video-processing and packaging capabilities.

AI-assisted code can contain errors. Video Align therefore provides inspectable PNG and FITS results, documents its processing method and is tested against the published example video. Results intended for scientific use should nevertheless be independently reviewed and, where possible, compared with measured dark and flat calibration frames.

AI was used as a development tool, not as an image-processing step. Star registration, calibration, object tracking and image aggregation use deterministic algorithms that run locally.
