Start and stop

Open Plattenlast, choose a duration and interval, then select Start. The default ends at the next 09:00 local time with a ten-second interval. Stop finishes cleanly and saves the data. Closing the window leaves the independent background measurement running. No automatic startup is installed. Keep the PC awake; sleep and restart interrupt collection.

Local report

Open the local website from the app. Refresh the data view to read saved measurement files. Only the small status is polled automatically. Charts support PNG, SVG, JPG, BMP and clipboard; tables support sorting and column controls. All data remains available through CSV and JSON.

Method and limitations

Batched native Windows counters cover every observable process and every physical drive present at the start. There is no Top-N or load threshold, file scan, ETW trace or disk benchmark. Short-lived processes can be missed. Process I/O includes cache, network and devices; it cannot establish exact physical attribution to a drive. New drives appear in the next recording.

Data location

The existing E: project is used on the development PC; otherwise LocalAppData\AmrumSoftware\Plattenlast. --home selects another persistent location. Recordings are stored under logs and survive uninstall.

At startup the app checks its HTTPS version file at most once per calendar day. A random product-specific installation ID is stored persistently in a local file and in the user registry and sent for product usage statistics. It contains no hardware or account information. A 90-day deadline starts only after a newer published version has been successfully detected. After that deadline the app requires an update before a new recording. Network failure alone never starts a deadline; an existing deadline remains in effect.
